A weak low-pressure system will ensure unsettled weather in Austria until further notice. It will rain again and again in the coming days, with thunderstorms also on the cards. The sun will make an appearance from time to time, but only briefly.
There will initially be some residual clouds and localised fog patches on Friday. These will clear in the morning, and the sun will appear. However, clouds will quickly form. The first rain showers will appear in the east in the morning. From midday, the probability of rain showers and thunderstorms will increase everywhere, Geosphere Austria forecast on Thursday. Some of the cells will move slowly, so there may be large amounts of rain locally, especially in the east. It is most likely to remain dry in the south-east. The wind will be weak to moderate from the south-east to west. Temperatures will range from six to 15 degrees in the morning and 17 to 24 degrees in the afternoon.
Changeable weekend
Especially in the west and northwest, a few rain showers will pass through on Saturday in the morning. In the rest of Austria, the sun will sometimes shine until midday. After that, however, rain showers are on the cards again, including thunderstorms in the eastern half of the country. The south-east is most likely to be spared. The wind will blow weak to moderate, briefly brisk to strong in thunderstorms, from the southeast to the west. Early morning temperatures will be between four and 13 degrees, and afternoon temperatures will be between 16 and 24 degrees.
Sunday morning and morning will be partly cloudy, especially in the eastern half of the country, with the possibility of a few showers. Otherwise, sunshine and clouds will alternate again. As a result, the central mountains and the south will be particularly susceptible to the development of heavier cumulus clouds and a few shower and thunderstorm cells. The wind near the ground will be rather weak, with early temperatures of seven to 15 degrees and daytime highs of 20 to 26 degrees.
Changeable start to the week
The forecast is still very uncertain from the start of the week. From today’s perspective, the geosphere forecasts intermittent sunshine for many regions on Monday after any residual clouds have cleared before the cloudiness increases from the west, and widespread clouds are likely to develop during the day. A few more showers and thunderstorm cells will move across the country in the afternoon and evening. In the eastern region, moderate south-easterly winds will be noticeable from time to time, otherwise, it will often only be lightly windy away from the shower zones. Early temperatures range from eight to 16 degrees, with daytime highs usually between 22 and 27 degrees.
On Tuesday, a disturbance zone will cross the country from west to east. A compact umbrella of clouds will hang over the country’s western half from the morning onwards, with frequent rain showers and embedded thunderstorm cells, which may be locally heavy. To the east, it will be sunny and dry for longer, but here, too, the tendency for showers and thunderstorms will increase significantly in the afternoon and evening. The wind will blow moderately, sometimes briskly, mostly from the west. In the east, a moderate south-easterly wind will blow during the day. Early morning temperatures will range between 10 and 16 degrees, and daytime highs will be between 16 and 27 degrees from west to east.
